Behind the scenes tittle-tattle from the ADM…
Expensive views
Just because it was the social part of the evening did not mean conversations and ideas shared were off the record last night at the Gala Event in the Prince of Wales Hotel.
One father of the chapel (FoC) complained how the ADM was “so expensive” and questioned whether the money spent on this weekend would actually help to deliver a better NUJ.
And yet, he also admitted to having only spent two hours in conference and said that he probably wouldn’t make it to the Sunday session (though looking in the hall at 9.30 this morning, he is not alone).
So, on the one hand this FoC condemns spending on expenses to gather everyone in Southport and on the other hand is treating this weekend as a free jolly and forgetting he is here to represent other union members.
So, father of the chapel, are you ready to confess to your sins?
Sunday morning at ADM
Is anybody there? Speakers’ voices are echoing round an empty hall after a late night on Saturday. We are sure all the delegates got up on time. There must be a queue to check out of the hotels. That must be what is delaying them.
Views of delegates hard at work as ADM started at 9.30 Sunday, after a late Saturday night.
